The opening and closing ceremonies were held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main stadium of the event. It was the first time that the Commonwealth Games were held in India and the second time it was held in Asia after Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in 1998. The official mascot of the Games was Shera and the official song of the Games, Jiyo Utho Bado Jeeto, was composed by celebrated Indian musician A.R. Rahman.
Initially, several concerns and controversies surfaced before the start of the Games. Despite these concerns, all members of the Commonwealth of Nations participated in the Games. A widely-praised opening ceremony helped improve the image of the games. The concerns which were raised during the buildup to the Games were largely eclipsed by strong performance by Indian athletes, smooth running of the sporting events and a "spectacular" closing ceremony.At the closing ceremony, the president of the Commonwealth Games Federation declared that Delhi had hosted a "truly exceptional Games".

Story:
Going by the posters, we thought NTR would bring in the magic with a touch of class in Brindavanam. But the movie turns out to be just another masala mix. The major plus point is that Brindavanam has been shot well. The comedy is hilarious, though parts of it are outdated.
The plot? Krishna alias Krish (NTR) is the son of a millionaire (Mukesh Rishi) in Hyderabad.
His girlfriend Indu (Samantha) has a friend Bhumi (Kajal). The twist is that Bhumi's dad (Prakash Raj) wants to get her married to her cousin (Ajay) - a match Bhumi is against. She bluffs and tells her family that she has already fallen in love with a guy.
Indu helps her by letting her "rent" Krish as her fiance, just so that she can escape marriage for the time being.
Krish goes to Bhumi's village as her "fake" lover and successfully solves the rivalry between the girl's dad and his brother (Srihari). Impressed with Krish, Bhumi's dad accepts him and declares him his future son-in-law.
Now, Indu has no other go but to get back her lover. What happens next? That forms the crux of the family drama.
Though NTR plays a role that doesn't suit his image, he does it with elan. His dialogues are simply superb. For the first time, NTR tried to play a lover boy - Whether the audience will accept that remains to be seen. Kajal's role is dull from the start to finish, while Samantha too cannot enliven the mood. They just play glam dolls without soul. Prakash Raj and Srihari do routine roles.
The story is far removed from originality. For instance, there is a touch of Allu Arjun's Happy in Brindavanam. It also has shades of Ram's Maska, Chiranjeevi-starrer Bavagaru Bagunnara, Balakrishna's Nari Nari Naduma Murari, Ready and Bindas.
Director Vamsy Paidipalle seems to have only one thing in mind – to a give a commercial hit. Screenplay is fast in second half, compared to the first half. The plus point of the movie is the entertaining second half. But, if you are a serious movie-goer, stay away from Brindavan.
The comedy is the lifeline of the movie with hilarious scenes from Brahmanandam, Venu Madhav and NTR. The songs are not impressive and a couple of numbers have average appeal. Music by Taman is just average. Cinematography is a big plus point to the film. Editing is crisp.

NTR Jr., who so far has been known for his 'masala' potboilers, is now looking for a change. The actor says he is not averse to acting in multi-starrers. "I have always wanted to act in the remake of the yesteryear classic Gundamma Katha. It is my favorite film. It would be good if I and Naga Chaitanya act in the film. I have already spoken to Naga Chaitanya about this and he too is interested."
NTR Jr. likes to be at home when he's free. He adds, "I have no passions other than cinema but I do watch a lot of television. We don't talk films at home." His latest film Brindavanam is slated for a release on October 14th.

Gossip: It seems that Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is tired of people addressing her by her nickname ‘Ash’ and has requested them to call her by her full name.
Recently, while talking to reporters Aishwarya Rai said “When I joined the industry, people initially used to say they have difficulty in pronouncing my name, so they started calling me ‘Ash’. But now, it has been years and I guess, everyone can pronounce it properly.” Aishwarya adds “So I would appreciate, if you people address me by my name – Aishwarya The model-turned-actress walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra at the ongoing HDIL-India Couture Week and thanked her husband Abhishek for bringing the name issue in the forefront. It is believed that Abhishek too had recently requested some journalists to refer to her by her full name.
VV Vinayak to direct Pawan Kalyan New Movie
Though ‘Puli’ directed by SJ Surya is running with a divided talk, Pawan Kalyan’s stamina helped in good openings to the film.
Realising that taking so much time for a film won’t help him in any in his career, Pawan Kalyan, got ready for his next film immediately and is doing ‘Khushigaa…’ under Jayant C Paranje direction, which is the remake of a Bollywood hit film ‘Love Aaj Kal’. Definitely the film would land him a safe zone, many of his fans claim.
Here is another interesting news for Mega fans. The most-awaited combination of VV Vinayak and Pawan Kalyan is going to happen very soon.
The story discussions ended with the Power Star giving his green signal for a story penned by Akula Siva in a single sitting.
The film would be directed by VV Vinayak and Pawan Kalyan reportedly gave dates for the movie from March 2011. DVV Danaiah would produce the film.

With ‘Komaram Puli’ and ‘Mahesh Khaleja’ failed to show the stamina at the Box Office, and ‘Robot’ which earned a tremendous hit talk from the day one completing almost 15 days, Young Tiger NTR’s ‘Brindaavanam’ is said to have entered into a safe zone.
In case, the film earns a positive talk, it would shake the Box Office because, the film was said to have all the qualities to pull family crowds. Moreover the film has two crazy heroines like Kajal and Samanta to fill the glamour slot and to attract the youth.
Both Khaleja and Puli which had high expectations bumped off, NTR’s film, which too earned a lot of craze among the film buffs, Vamsi Paidipally had to pay the price if he does any kind of mistake in the movement of the story.
The expectations by fans are giving jitters to both Dil Raju, the producer and Vamsi. However, they are claiming that their’s would one of the hit films that were released in 2010.
Ileana waiting for ‘3 Idiots’ remake
It’s a much debated topic in these parts as to whether Ileana would do the female lead role in the Telugu and Tamil remakes of Hindi blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’, both to be directed by Shankar.
And it has now been confirmed that the top actress of Tollywood would be a part of the project. Reliable sources say Ileana has signed on the dotted lines and is happy about working with Shankar.
“She is equally thrilled to share the screen space with Mahesh Babu in Telugu and with Vijay in the Tamil version. Remember ‘Pokiri’ in which he acted opposite Mahesh is a runaway hit”, sources add.
Shankar, meanwhile, is expected to start the shooting in the middle of November. While Vijay is confirmed for Aamir Khan’s role in the Tamil version, Jeeva and Siddarth are expected to be roped in for the other two lead roles.
‘Adhinayakudu’ reserved for Chiru
Madhu of Leo Entertainments, who had produced super hit films like ‘Gajini’, ‘Tagore’ and ‘Stalin’ reportedly registered a title ‘Adhinayakudu’ in the Film Chamber recently.
It is learnt that Madhu had got the title registered keeping in view Chiranjeevi’s plans to return to the film industry to complete his 150th film.Madhu, who has a close rapport with mega producer Allu Aravind and is preparing all the necessary groundwork for the forthcoming film of Chiranjeevi and the film is likely to roll in next year.Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi, keeping aside his political career and his party Praja Rajyam for some time, left for the US. Though it was claimed to be a vacation trip, it is presumed that the Mega Star had left for the US for a make over with weight reduction process for a different and new look.Of course, several gossips are making rounds that the film would be directed either by VV Vinayak or Murugadas or SS Rajamouli. One had to wait and watch as the Mega Star is yet to officially announce the director’s name.

Producer Allu Aravind has announced the release date of his upcoming movie Badrinath - March 27th. The film is currently being shot in Ramoji Film City. It has Allu Arjun and Tamanna in the lead and is directed by VV Vinayak. While on Tamanna, she is also acting in another Telugu film, which is yet to be titled, where she is paired opposite Naga Chaitanya. The film directed by Sukumar is being produced by the same production house as Badrinath, Geetha Arts. Our Tollywood is totally sentimental and we know this very well. Here is how Producers and Directors are trying to go with a sentiment of Junior NTR. Yes, from ‘Aadi’ till ‘Adurs;’ all those movies where in Jr. NTR was injured in accident during the shooting have come out as block buster hits. May it be ‘Aadi’ or ‘Simhadri’ or ‘Adurs;’ sentiment was intact as Junior was hurt during the action episodes in all three and evidently all three rocked at BO. Now, the best and most serious accident happened in ‘brindavanam’ and depending upon the above sentiment ‘Dil’ Raju is confident of taking the ‘Injury’ sentiment forward with a Super Hit of his movie.
On the other side Junior NTR is worried that all the stunt masters from now on will try to injure him during the shooting in order to make their respective movies hit. Well, sentiment is always a sentiment…Hope ‘brindavanam’ really shake BO in next few days.
